Pipa is located 85km South of Natal/RN, inserted in Tibau do Sul Council. In native language Tibau means "between two waters". The town has this name because it is surrounded by Guaraíras lagoon and the Atlantic.
The name Pipa comes from the ancients navigators that saw a rock with shape of a pipa (the same as a barril for wine) and so decided to give this name to the town.
Rio Grande do Norte (RN) has the largest number of sunny days during the year in South America here you can breath one of the cleanest air in the world, It is a big gastronomic center, hand craft and plastic art.
Pipa was elected one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Brazil (Guia Quatro Rodas), it has clear and warm water, dunes, natural pools, coconuts trees and an important touristic structure with several hand craft shops, surf shops, bars and restaurants.
In the surrounding area you can find the Santuário Ecológico - an environmental protected area, organized with 16 different tracks to have a better look on the area where you can see dolphins and marine turtles.
Pipa has several beaches with bigger focus to Madeiro beach, located right in front of the Santuário Ecológico. With a resident population of marine turtles and dolphins is an excellent spot for learning surf and Amor beach is the place where the surf competitions take place with strong and fast waves, excellent for radical manovers.
